Well, after a gruelling and cruel eleven months, most people’s favourite part of the year is here now! It’s the festive season. This is probably the only time of the year where it’s okay to let your hair down, smile and look back upon the year with either regret or pride. The truth is December is more often than not a time of sincere reflection and examination of our lives. It’s also a time to rest, see family and if you have been rude all year round this is the time to play nice. If children are born on Christmas then they will probably be named Noel and Noella. Basically it’s a time of celebration and the only time most people truly find time for family and friends, blow through money like bulldozers and think seriously about next year. Most offices and businesses are already feeling and spreading the festive vibe as Christmas trees are now starting to line every window and roundabout. We are sure quite soon all radio waves will be playing longtime December hits and Kigali will become a mass of crystal red and blue lights. All sorts of holiday promotions have been introduced by telecommunication powerhouses, assuring us of constant uninterrupted and cheap communication. The jungle party is right around the corner. Really, one can hardly blame anyone for the cherry and at times expectant attitude we receive the festive season with! We asked young people, their plans and expectations for this festive season and new year:
