Hannington Namara, Managing Director of Equity Bank Rwanda is the new Chairperson of the Executive Committee of Rwanda Bankers’ Association (RBA). ALSO READ: A new dawn in Rwanda's financial sector: Rwanda Bankers’ Association launches research centre Namara brings years of experience in the banking and private sector in the country, having previously worked at TradeMark East Africa's Rwanda country program and also served as CEO of the Rwanda Private Sector Federation. Established in 2009, the association aims to serve as an advocate for the banking sector in Rwanda, and its membership consists of all banks duly licensed by the National Bank of Rwanda. RBA also named Diane Karusisi, CEO of Bank of Kigali as the 1st Vice Chairperson and Lina Higiro, CEO of NCBA as the 2nd Vice Chairperson in the committee. Other appointments include; Kampeta Sayinzoga: CEO Development Bank of Rwanda (BRD), Carine Umutoni, MD Ecobank, Christine Baingana, CEO Urwego Bank, and Tony Francis Ntore who has been the Chief Executive Officer of RBA. The new committee will serve for three years in their different capacities towards creating a more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable banking sector in Rwanda. It is set to be a dynamic force, influencing the direction of the Rwandan banking sector. Data, often called the lifeblood of the modern economy, is primed to be the engine driving innovation, policy formulation, and informed decision-making.
