Rwanda will join the rest of the world to mark the International Anti-Corruption day on December 9. This year’s theme is; “Fight Corruption for a sustainable development.” As such, the Ombudsman’s office organised week-long activities which were launched on a radio show where the Ombudsman, Aloysie Cyanzayire, urged Rwandans and investors to help fight corruption in government and to report any corruption in the implementation of development programmes. “Everyone must be concerned when it comes to reporting corruption in the implementation of Government programmes because, at the end of the day, it’s us who benefit from these government activities,” she said. The week-long campaign started with a meeting in Western Province; the next meeting is due today in the Southern Province, and then in the Northern Province tomorrow and, lastly, the Eastern Province on December 7. According to a press release issued by the Ombudsman’s office, the meetings will bring together officials from National Youth Council, National Women Council, Private Sector in all districts and the president and the vice president of the District Councils in the fight against corruption and injustice. The main celebration to close the campaihn will be held on December 9, at Kigali Serena Hotel where the three best performing anti-corruption clubs and 3 best district councils for the fight against corruption and Injustice will be rewarded. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
