Utexrwa Cup tie Young Tigers 84/6 in 17 overs (rain interrupts play) Young Tigers were beyond doubt the most relieved side when heavy down pour halted their Utexrwa Cup tie against the in-form Kigali Cricket Club (KCC) at Kicukiro oval on Sunday. The student-studded side that was batting first after losing the toss was in trouble after managing 84 runs for six wickets after 17 overs. Young Tigers were struggling to deal with KCC’s bowling pair of Jasat Mehboob and Jasat Mohammad who had claimed six wickets between themselves before heavy rain set in. After declaring the ground unfit for further play, the day’s umpires Evode Mutuyimana and Joseph Habimana told Times Sport that a viable decision would be reached during Rwanda Cricket Association (RCA)’s mid-week meeting. “We have called off the game because the ground is in a bad state but we have to wait for RCA’s decision on whether the teams will share points or whether we shall have a rematch,” one of the umpires said. Young Tigers are however praying for a rematch because a draw automatically takes them out of the equation. Ends
