It will now be easier for Rwandans and other East Africans living abroad to buy homes or invest in sustainable ventures thanks to an investment initiative targeting the Diaspora. According to Edwin Dande, the Kenya-based Cytonn Investments Management Limited managing partner and chief executive, the firm’s Diaspora platform helps Rwandans living abroad to invest back home and the broader East African Community (EAC) region. Dande said the initiative seeks to support the Diaspora invest in businesses that could help them earn sustainable incomes after retiring or whenever they return home. Through its subsidiary, Cytonn Diaspora, the firm seeks to link investment opportunities in the region to the East African Diaspora across the globe. “We are actively looking for good investment opportunities which exist in the market… We want to expand these opportunities to the Rwandan Diaspora. We hope that Cytonn Diaspora will help Rwandans living abroad to finance investments in Rwanda and the broader East Africa region,” he said. Meanwhile, an investment forum organised by Cytonn Investments is due tomorrow in Kigali. Dande said the forum targets institutions, individuals and government bodies involved in investment activities in Rwanda and the EAC bloc. It will discuss investment opportunities in the East African market, and aims at forging partnerships that will enable investors grow their investment portfolios.
