Rwanda women’s dreams of winning the 2023 Sitting Volleyball World Cup came to a shocking end after suffering a 3-0 set quarterfinal defeat to defending champions Brazil in Cairo, Egypt, on Thursday. Brazil looked too tough for Mossad Rashad’s ladies to beat from the beginning, cruising to a comfortable victory in three straight sets (25-15, 27-25 and 25-14) to advance to the semifinals. Meanwhile, the men’s team recorded three classification victories over Algeria (3-0) on Wednesday before recording the same results against England and France on Thursday to finish in the ninth place at the 2023 men’s World Sitting Volleyball World Cup despite still having one game in hand against India on Friday. This is the best place that Rwandan men’s team has achieved in the sitting Volleyball world ranking as the team improved four places compared to the 2022 edition where they finished in the 13th place.
