Both sides were promoted this season with Busegera defeating Rwamagana 2-0 in the final to qualify as second division league champions. They are currently separated by a point and one place in the table standing—Bugesera are 12th with five points, one ahead of Rwamagana after five rounds of matches. Rwamagana City FC head coach Francois Kalisa, admits that a win against Bugesera is not only important in terms of bragging rights but most importantly, the three points are vital in their bid to move away from the dreaded relegation zone. ”We want to win this game because we are in a bad position and our aim is to stay in league next season, so we must win tomorrow (today),” the former SC Kiyovu coach Kalisa said on Thursday. Bugesera have won one, drawn two and lost two of their five matches. Rwamagana are also badly in need of points to avoid being dragged in the relegation zone so early in their first season in the topflight division. Bugesera coach Ali Bizimungu said, “We have not made a good start but we are not so far from our set targets for the first quarter. We have to push and try to get many points. The league is strong but we have to be prepared to face every team with an aim to win.” In the other matches, ninth-placed Musanze FC (7 points) entertain Amagaju FC, who are placed 8th also with seven points but have a better goal difference, at Stade Ubworoherane.
