Rwanda women will Thursday face Brazil in the quarterfinals of the 2023 World ParaVolley Sitting Volleyball World Cup which is underway in Cairo, Egypt. Mossad Rashad’s ladies qualified for the quarterfinals despite losing their last group match to China in three straight sets (25-7, 25-6 and 25-12) on Tuesday. The team, captained by Liliane Mukobwankabo, finished third in Group A after registering two wins against hosts Egypt and Mongolia and two defeats at the hands of favorites Germany and China in four matches played in the group stages. ALSO READ: Rwanda Handed Tough Draw in World Para Volley Meanwhile, the men's team failed to advance to the knockout stages after losing both their Group A games against Iraq (3-2) in the opening game before hosts Egypt beat them in three straight sets (25-6, 25-16, 25-10) Tuesday’s all-African match. Rashad’s men will now play the 9-13 classification games against France, Algeria and England on Wednesday before playing India on Thursday as they look to finish in a better place below the top 8.
