Editor, RE: “Time to walk the talk on TVET” (The New Times, October 8). Let us make sure that the students are well equipped in both general academic areas, as well as technical and vocational skills, giving them the opportunity to have solid choices of the direction they want to take for their lives post-secondary, whether it is going directly into the workforce, university studies or entrepreneurship. Also at the primary school level, academics must be strengthened at the local level, especially their competence in English, to stop the cycle of students being pushed through the system with poor grades.
