Dear editor,The recent destruction of merchandise in the southern district of Muhanga by fire, following another fire in a Kigali business street, shows how ill equipped we are in fighting fire. People do not know what to do when fire comes their way; they end up spreading it all over again. I suggest that the police be given enough resources to fight fire in time. The population too, should be given some knowledge about fire fighting as a life skill. It becomes even more threatening when we start thinking about this happening to boarding schools. So it is high time that this country started thinking seriously about equipping all institutions that have many people, with fire-fighting skills. MUHANAGA
