75 percent have health insurance in Ngoma

EASTERN PROVINCE NGOMA—A report released on Thursday as Ngoma district evaluated the second phase of this year’s performance contract, indicates that 75 percent of the district residents have acquired health insurance. The report detailing achievements in different domains indicates that the district has built 40 classrooms in different parts of the district, and 2,100 hectares of land were consolidated in order to increase food production. About 217 houses for the Genocide survivors and the vulnerable families were built with 104 houses already occupied. Over 150km of road network was rehabilitated and over 350 hectares of terraces prepared. The district also planted 2,685,000 trees. According to the report, the district also managed to get a website, which was not on its performance contract. The website, according to a report, focuses much on the fight against female violence which has been reported to be high in the district. Presiding over the ceremony, Charles Gasana, the Eastern Province Executive Secretary, acknowledged the step the district has taken in all fields of development. He urged the leaders to put much effort in things that benefit most the residents that include land consolidation, joining cooperative societies among other things. Gasana was flanked by Jean Marie Vianney Makombe, the provincial Director of economic development. “Leaders should not relax though they have somehow tried to fulfil their performance contract,” Gasana said. They also inspected some of the developmental activities in different parts of the district including roads, schools, terraces and houses of the Genocide survivors. Ends
