Today Girls Kagarama SS vs GS Ndera 8:30am Boys Lycée de Kigali vs Kagarama SS 1 pm The final of this year’s national inter-secondary schools cricket competition for both boys and girls is to be played today at Kicukiro cricket ground. The day begins with Kagarama SS taking on Groupe Scolaire Ndera in the girls’ final, starting at 8:30 am before the boys’ final between Lycée de Kigali and Kagarama. The four finalists came through a round robin competition of 18 school teams throughout the country. Rwanda Cricket Association (RCA) general manager, Joshua Mwanja says they expect a strong level of competition at this year’s finals. “The competition is a crucial part of RCA’s cricket development programme. The tournament is a breeding ground for future national team players at U19 and national team levels,” the former Uganda international said on Friday. Lycée de Kigali came first in the boy’s competition last year after beating IPRC in the final. Last year’s girls’ winners IPRC were knocked out of the competition after losing all their games at preliminary level. Kagarama SS teams come into this competition with a record of having the most trophies since the tournament was started in 2008. They have won 3 boys and 4 girls’ trophies. The boy’s final will feature U19 players that played for Rwanda national U19 boys’ team that came 2nd in the Pepsi ICC Africa U19 tournament held in Zambia last year. They include; Valens Muvunyi (LDK) Bryson Bugingo and John Mugisha (Kagarama SS).
