More than 30 I&M Bank customers were last week rewarded for transacting with VISA cards. The winners of the I&M Bank Visa Use & Win campaign include Safari Gaspari, managing director of Imvaho Nshya Publications and Great Lakes Media, Emmanuel Hategeka, the Ministry of Trade and Industry permanent secretary, Jean Paul Nyaramutama, the acting Chief Executive officer RwandAir, and Alex Kabeyiza. According to Robin Bairstow, the I&M Bank’s new managing director, there were three categories of winners; five clients pocketed Rwf200,000, 16 people walked away with Rwf50,000 each, while 10 won Rwf100,000 each. Only clients who transacted more than 10 times participated in the draw. The campaign that run from June 1-August 31 saw a 300 per cent increase in uptake of VISA cards, as well as significant growth in usage at merchant locations, he added. “The aim of the campaign was to drive people to make payments by card at points of sale and online, especially because there is no added charge when a customer uses their card and it is safe and convenient,” he said. The bank recorded 11.5 per cent increase in half year net profit to Rwf2.5 billion, up from Rwf2.2 billion at the end of the same period last year.
