East African University Rwanda Management has started the deal of creating volleyball clubs that will register with the Rwanda Volleyball Federation (FRVB). Men's and women's teams from EAUR will register to compete in the local competitions next season, starting in December or January. The newcomers will start playing in the Taxpayers Tournament set for Saturday and Sunday at BK Arena. EAUR will become the tenth club in the league, in addition to Gisagara, APR, Kigali Volleyball Club, Kirehe, IPRC-West, IPRC-Ngoma, Police REG, and other new clubs Kepler. The newly formed EAUR is giving scholarships to boys and girls who will play in the league. Easter African University Rwanda has chosen to use young players in order to build a team for the future. With the average age of the whole squad being 20, the new players will be given scholarships to study for free in addition to getting match bonuses. Head coach of EAUR Volleyball Club Peter Kamasa said: “We have signed some players. We are also trying to get the right way of playing our game. We need to build a competitive team, not a team to just be part of the league, but a winning team.” Kamasa played volleyball for teams like Gahini Secondary School, Ngoma District, Umubano Blue Tigers, Rukinzo VC (Burundi), Group Scolaire de Butare, UNATEK, ULK, and APR. Kamasa coached RwandAir VC, ESSA Nyarugunga, and Kirehe Volleyball as head coach. He has also been assistant coach for some teams including, APR, RRA, Group Scolaire de Butare, and REG.
