An overspeeding Toyota coaster from Gicumbi heading to Nyagatare rammed into a motorcycle instantly killing the rider and injuring several passengers. Police in Eastern Province said that after hitting the motorcycle, the vehicle lost control, and the bus hit four other cyclists on the road. The spokesperson of the police in Eastern Province, Superintendent of Police (SSP), Hamudun Twizeyimana, said that the fatal accident occurred at around 7:00 a.m. when a Toyota Coaster rammed into a motorcycle that was heading to Ngarama in Gatsibo, killing the motorbike rider instantly and injuring two passengers on board. He said: “The accident was caused by the driver's speeding and failure to keep to the right side of the road. He hit the motorbike, killing Uwanjye 20, and injuring a 62-year-old Sebizeze along with his 10-year-old son. The regional police spokesperson noted that after hitting the motorcycle, the unstable coaster rammed into four cyclists in the same direction they were heading; one cyclist lost his life in the incident. The deceased and the injured are admitted at Ngarama Hospital,” Twizeyimana said. The driver was arrested and detained at Ngarama Police Station.
