NORTHERN PROVINCE MUSANZE — Over 60 youths drawn from ten districts of the country are attending a one-week training on how to prepare and formulate small and medium enterprises. Six people deemed business-oriented were selected from each of the districts. The ‘income generating business campaign’ was organised by the Ministry of Labour and Public service as part of the five-year action plan which aims at promoting entrepreneurship skills among the youth. According to Emmanuel Bigenimana, the in charge of youth employment promotion, the training will equip the youth with knowledge of planning, financial analysis, marketing and setting up the projects. The business entrepreneurship campaign to be conducted in all the provinces will be held in phases-the second phase will involve assessing the viable projects suitable for financing. During the training, conducted in partnership with CAPMER (Centre for Support to Small and Medium Enterprises in Rwanda), participants highlight the existing challenges to setting up business projects. Lack of technical skills and general knowledge on writing project proposals worth winning bank loans, was identified as one of the big challenges. Ends
