Rwanda will be represented by four athletes, two in each gender, all competing in the 10.000m at the 11th edition of the All Africa Games in Brazzaville, the Republic of Congo. The team includes two-time reigning national men’s champion Eric Sebahire and Felicien Muhitira, who is fresh from competing at just concluded IAAF World Championships in Beijing, China. The women’s team has Claudette Mukasakindi and Clementine Mukandanga. They will compete on September 13 under the guidance if national team head coach Innocent Rwabuhihi. The team will depart for the quadrennial multi-discipline show on Wednesday. The Africa’s biggest sports event of started on Wednesday and will end on September 19. Rwabuhihi told Sunday Sport his athletes are on a good level in terms if of preparedness and he is confident they will do well in Brazzaville. He said, “We are ready for the competition, all the four runners are in good shape and I am confident they will impress against the best from all over Africa.” He however, admitted that, “To say that we are going to win a medal would be a little premature but we have set ourselves targets.” In general, Rwanda will be represented by a total of 74 athletes vying for medals in nine disciplines namely; volleyball, beach volleyball, cycling, athletics, power-lifting, tennis, taekwondo, karate and fencing.
