Huye seeks to create 7,500 jobs this financial year

Huye District is commited to improving the welfare of its people through socio- economic development. The district targets to have 7,500 people, largely the youth and women, get employed during the 2015/16 financial year The Minister of Public Service and Labour (MIFOTRA), Judith Uwizeye speaking during the event in Huye District yesterday. Huye District Mayor, Eugène Kayiranga Muzuka, made the revelation on Tuesday as the district celebrated its number one spot in the 2014-15 imihigo (performance contracts). The event was attended by Huye residents, partners and government officials. At least 1,760 vulnerable people will get jobs through public works, he said. The mayor said about 400 youths will acquire ICT skills and wireless internet connections will be availed in the remaining 1o sectors among the 14 sectors making up Huye District. Muzuka said 40 classrooms will be built and school dropout checked, while the number of households with electricity is set to increase from the current 23.1 per cent to 24.6 per cent. He thanked the private sector for their role in the development of the country. “The country’s economy is hinged on the private sector.
