Ndayishimiye urges Amavubi to prove prowess against South Africa

Today South Africa U23 vs Rwanda CHAN team Rwanda national football stand-in captain Eric Ndayishimiye has advised his teammates to prove their worth against South Africa U-23 side in a friendly game this afternoon at the University of Johannesburg. Ndayishimiye, who is commonly known as ‘Bakame’, is one of the senior players on the current 18-man squad that boasts of massive experience on the national team. “It is a new team. I have talked to the players and told them as much as we do not have APR players on the squad, it is important to use this opportunity to prove ourselves,” explained Bakame. He further added that, “Let us make the coach proud so that he does not have to worry that there are no APR and other regular players. This group has so many talented players. Our objective as I have told the players is to showcase their talent because we are going to represent the country. We shall try our level best to put in a good performance,” Bakame noted. Meanwhile, McKinstry is keen on trying out several combinations. He said, “It is a training game with rolling substitutes and we shall be looking to see combinations in different positions for example Faustin (Usengimana) and Amani (Uwiringiyimana) or Faustin and Fabrice (Twagizimana) in central defense. The game will help us to look at little combinations but equally we want the game to flow. It is more about individual performances.” This is the beginning of many friendly games lined up in preparation for the African Nations Championship (CHAN) set to be held in Rwanda from January 16-February 7.
