Rwanda international athletes Jeremie Ngendahayo and Lilianne Uwanyirigira have emerged victorious at the Gicumbi Duathlon National Championship Challenge 2023 that took place in Gicumbi District on Saturday. ALSO READ: Iradukunda crowned Rubavu Triathlon champion Organized by Rwanda Triathlon Federation, the competition was played in two parts where participants first took a multi-lap 7.5 km run on top of a 20km bike run in a race that covered a distance of 27.5 kilometers. Ngendahayo won the race in men category, clocking 1 hour, 2 minutes and 59 seconds. The took home the victory, overcoming competition from second-placed Vital Gatete who used 1 hour, 7 minutes and 59 seconds while Eric Iradukunda emerged third after using 1 hour, 8 minutes and 40 seconds. In women category, Lilianne Uwanyirigira won the race (01h24’50”), beating Mukamuhire (1h25’50”) and Rosette Nyirarukundo (1h30’00”) who came second and third respectively. The 2023 Gicumbi Duathlon National Championship Challenge served as the curtain raiser of the new Rwandan Triathlon season.
