I am a senior five student but also an employee of a local company. Of late, the job has become more demanding making it hard for me to give school my all. The challenge is I need both the job and an education. What should I do? In your case though, it looks like you also need the job to make ends meet. It is, therefore, important to work out a formula that will enable you achieve on both fronts. As a working student, you have to be ready to adapt to new assignments and sudden work crisis that needs to be addressed immediately. Use a planner to fill in all your fixed study and work appointments so you’ll appropriately schedule your study sessions and work hours. Focus on the main ideas covered in each lesson rather than all the superfluous information and find a study sanctuary where you can read comfortably without interruption. Also avoid cramming and focus on understanding concepts to build strength. Get organised by keeping your school materials together for quick and easy access. Talk to your teachers about your dilemma and they will give you the necessary support. You also need to talk to your boss about your situation so that he adjusts your work schedule to allow you attend lessons. Make sure to have enough sleep and good meals to give your brain a boost.
