Multitudes of Muslim faithful around the world will today throng mosques for Eid al-Fitr prayers, marking the end of the Islamic holy month of Ramadhan. Speaking to The New Times, last evening, Mufti Sheikh Ibrahim Kayitare, the head of Rwanda’s Muslim community, congratulated all Muslims upon successfully completing Ramadhan. He said the day will be celebrated with special prayers, family gatherings and feasts of all kinds. Kayitare added that, in Kigali, the main celebration will be held at Gaddafi Mosque in Nyamirambo because the Kigali Regional Stadium where prayers usually take place, is under renovation. Eid-al-Fitr or Eid, marks the end of the holy month of fasting observed by Muslims and is one of the most joyous days in the Islamic calendar. The Ministry of Public Service and Labour last evening declared today a public holiday in respect of Eid al-Fitr and wished Eid Mubarak (Blessed Eid) to all Muslims. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
