Rwanda’s national Taekwondo team ‘Kyorugi’ on Thursday night left the country for Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, where they are expected to take part in the African Tekwondo Championship scheduled from November 4-5. The team, coached by Korean Master JI-Man Jeong, has been undergoing intensive training over the past three weeks before flying to Abidjan for the G4-level Taekwondo event. They departed Kigali International Airport on Thursday night 1.45am aboard Ethiopian Airlines. They include Rwanda, hosts Cote d’Ivoire, Kenya, Sudan, Central African Republic, Egypt, Senegal, Somalia, Eswatini, Ghana, Gabon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi, The Gambia, Chad, Botswana, Madagascar, Lesotho, Niger, Djibouti, Burkina Faso and Morocco. The last African Championship was held in Kigali last year and despite hosting the championship, Rwanda managed to win a bronze medal in Kyorugi and came third in Poomsae.
