Dear editor,I would like to applaud the Ministry of Health for being committed to improving the health facilities in Rwanda. This has been done by strengthening the quality of services delivered and providing access to treatment through the Universal Health Insurance coverage (Mutuelles de Santé). I believe that in order to enhance public health services, a deep reform was well knitted into Vision 2020 when the Mutuelle was introduced. The issue of poor health and deaths because of failure of treatment has been tackled through the cheaper option of health insurance- Mutuelle. The general population has benefited directly. With the major traditional problems of health as well as the new challenges posed by the pandemic of HIV/AIDS, I believe that the Rwandan Government has responded very positively. It’s in this regard that I strongly believe that this quality of care must continuously be a national priority. For this to happen, we need to continually focus on human resources development, building and sustaining ‘Mutuelles de Santé’ as well as reinforcing decentralization within the health sector. REMERA
