EASTERN PROVINCE NGOMA—The chairman of Ngoma district Joint Action Development Forum (JADF) has called upon on members to show more commitment in development projects in the district. Julius Kansiime, who is also the vice Mayor in-charge of finance and economic development, said this would ensure that the district achieves its targeted goals. JADF is a forum that brings together the district’s development partners. He made the call on Tuesday during a meeting that brought together all JADF members at the district headquarters. Kansiime warned the members that their targets would not be achieved without following up on their projects. “You have a big impact in the development of the district and the country in general,” Kansiime said. “But many of you have been inactive and this is why the level of development is still low,” he added. The meeting was attended by among others all Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs) working in the district, cooperative societies, financial institutions, representatives of various religious denominations and government institutions. The meeting aimed at creating coordination of the work of development partners to avoid duplication of services. “We want members who are active. We better remain few who can produce something big other than being many for nothing,” Kansiime said adding, “Let’s put in much effort. This is the one way we will differentiate between those who are active and those who are inactive.” He asked the members to always be the first in implementing their performance contracts and to always turn up for meetings whenever invited. Kansiime further urged them to offer help in finishing up the 227 houses for the Genocide survivors that are now on the roofing level. The work has been derailed by lack of cement, iron sheets and sand among other materials. Ends
