Gen Karenzi’s arrest is another form of Genocide denial

Editor, The motives behind the Spanish indictments are much more basic and do not deserve much analysis. The people behind it - many with close links to the Opus Dei, one of the most extreme Catholic semi-secret organizations - are also closely linked with the many other Spanish government and Catholic Church affiliates- sponsors of the FDLR and associated Rwandan genocide ideologues and other malcontents who also have links with foreign intelligence agencies. The indictments and this arrest are a classical intelligence operation aimed at destabilizing a government that has been in their gunsights from the day it defeated their genocidal proteges. The foreign governments (or at any rate important factions of their ruling establishments) from which we used to anticipate attacks and against which we had erected defences were France and Spain. But clearly the anti-Rwanda conspiracy network extends beyond those countries. As President Kagame noted in his address at the recent swearing in ceremony at Parliament, we should anticipate similar future attacks from anywhere else. Good, knowing we are under constant attack, that we have many enemies in different countries that are linked in with influential factions in those countries ensures we too remain appropriately vigilant. It will also remind us that we alone are responsible for our own security and well-being. That we can never entrust even a little of that to anybody, as they can betray you without notice. We have faced much worse before and we prevailed. We shall similarly prevail in this case, and be left much stronger for having gone through the test. Most importantly, I hope this acts as an object lesson to many compatriots who until now naively believed they had Western friends. Western arrogance need to be dealt with decisively Karemera *************************** Well said Karemera, such attacks date far back during slave trade, colonial era, partition of Africa… the list is longer than our memory can accommodate; however, Rwanda got more than the African share! The size of our Country was a deliberate punishment for resistance to slave trade. Centuries after slave trade we have people-centered leadership ready to fight for the dignity and prosperity of Rwandans. Rwandans have tested dignity; it is a no turning point. J.K
