Giants Sorwathe are second-seeded in pool B with 49 points from 21 matches, four points behind table leaders Bugesera and will be battling for an away victory at Esperance today in order to finish the group stages on a high, according to head coach Jean Jacques Muteba. The Rulindo-based side will also use the match as a warm-up game ahead of their clash against topflight side SC Kiyovu in the round of 16 in the Peace Cup due on June 17. Sorwathe beat Marines FC 2-1 to reach the last eight. “We are fighting to ink a legacy this season. We already eliminated a topflight league side (Marines) in Peace Cup and next up is Kiyovu. They are a strong team but we can overcome them. We are using Wednesday’s (today) match as part of the preparations,” Muteba told Times Sport yesterday. Nyagatare (40 points), La Jeunesse (39), United Stars (39) and Aspor with 38 points make pool A’s big four in that order while Muhanga and Rwamagana make the top four in pool B with 40 and 36 points respectively. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
