RwandAir has suspended flights to Mwanza in Tanzania barely six months since it re-launched flights on the route. John Mirenge, the chief executive officer, confirmed the development and said the route was not as profitable as earlier anticipated. He said the airline will now re-deploy the equipment on the Kigali- Kamembe route, where it is scheduled to resume operations on June 15. “We had deployed our aircraft to Mwanza because Kamembe Airport had closed for rehabilitation, and therefore thought it was wise to re-deploy to Mwanza instead of having the plane grounded…we wanted to gauge the route,” Mirenge said. business@newtimes.co.rw
