Rwanda will host the second East Africa Rollball Championships which starts today and ends on Sunday at Maison des Jeunes Kimisagara. Rollball is a sport where skating is combined with skills of basketball and handball played on a tarmac, concrete or wooden court measuring 40 by 20m using a basketball ball and by six players per team. Four countries are taking part in the two day tournament and they include hosts Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania. The competition will be in a round robin format with the top teams meeting in the semi-finals. According to the organsiers, the major reason for carrying out this competition in Rwanda is to promote the sport in Rwanda and other Easter African countries. Gerard Ssegawa, the Head coach of the national rollball team is backing his side to win the tournament and qualify for the World Rollball championship that will be held in India in September.
