APR’s indomitable lions are on the verge of rewriting more local history when they take on Basketball United Generation (UGB) this Sunday at Primature. After collecting maximum points from their 13 games, APR have one more task tomorrow before going down in the country’s record books as the first club to finish the regular season unbeaten. The former champions, who are playing UGB, 13 points off the pace are genuine favorites but Cliff Owuor yesterday told Times Sport that he was not about to take the game lightly. “We are taking the BUG game very seriously because we are treating it as a build up to the play-offs,” the ex-Kenyan international said. “So I expect to field all my key players,” he added.Last year, APR was in the spot light after becoming the first local club to win the Zone five club championships. The club then dominated more headlines when it became the first club in East Africa to take part in the Fiba-club championships in Angola, a tournament which merges Africa’s finest basketball clubs. In the other league fixtures, reigning champions Marine are away to National University of Rwanda (UNR) while CSK battle Rusizi for a third spot finish. The two clubs are jointly tied in third place with 20 points, three adrift of Marine who are in second place. Ends
