Airtel Rwanda donates Rwf2.5m to the Genocide widows

Airtel Rwanda last week donated Rwf2.5m to support the housing project for elderly Genocide widows. The money will be channeled through Association of Genocide Widows, (AVEGA Agahozo) and will go towards the fund basket for construction of more than 30 housing units for the elderly widows. Regine Iyamuremye from unity Club said that the homes will be constructed in different Districts across the country Teddy Bhullar, the Airtel Rwanda managing director, reiterated the company’s social responsibility towards supporting the vulnerable and commended the Unity Club and Avega Agahozo for supporting genocide survivors. Founded in 1996 by wives of former and current cabinet members and ministers, the club’s main objective is to advocate for the socio-economic well-being of disadvantaged groups with particular emphasis on orphans and widows. According to the club members, the issue of support to the elderly women and orphans is a social economic challenge that needs to be addressed urgently.
