A host of teams have started to arrive in Kigali ahead of the much-anticipated 2023 FIBA Zone V Women’s Championship due in Kigali from October 28 to November 4. The week-long basketball showpiece serves as a qualifier for the 2023 FIBA Africa Champions Cup for Women which will take place in Egypt from December 8-17. South Sudan’s Nile Legends and Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) from Kenya were the first to arrive in the country for the tournament on Thursday while the remaining teams jet in on Friday. ALSO READ: Rwanda to host FIBA Africa Zone 5 Club Championship Other participating teams include Vijana Queens and JKT Stars from Tanzania, Nile Legends from South Sudan, JKL Lady Dolphins of Uganda, Kenya Ports Authority and Zetech University, both from Kenya, as well as Gladiators from Burundi. The teams will be residing at Hilltop Hotel Kigali. Competition System Clubs will be pooled in two groups from which they will play between them. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals. The champions and the first and second runners-up will book tickets for the finals round of the competition in Egypt.
