Gasana gives Doreen Umutesi a peek into her fashion world. How would you describe your dress sense? I like keeping my dress code simple. I enjoy creating my own unique styles because they reflect individuality. Sensual or elegant, what do you prefer? Edna Darlene Gasana I prefer elegant because I feel that a respectable and unique outfit or dress code is admirable. What do you like to shop for the most? I enjoy shopping for dresses since as a student; I’m expected to look smart and decent. What do you consider when shopping for clothes? I consider the colour of an outfit or dress. It’s what catches my eye first; the quality or material of an outfit comes in second and the rest follow. How often do you shop for clothes? I usually shop from the Eastern Province since it’s where I live. I do most of my shopping at the beginning of a new year, and after six months. I also shop when I have a special event to attend. Describe the most expensive item that you own? The most expensive item that I own is a golden necklace. My mother gave it to me on my 18th birthday. She bought it in France. Who inspires you in fashion? I like Kim Kardashian’s fashion sense. She knows how to rock the fashion world and makes everyone want to wear her designs What’s your favourite fashion trend for guys? I think nothing beats a guy in a suit. A guy in a fitting suit is appealing to the eye! (She laughs) What would you wear on a date? I would wear a red dress or an animal print dress. Red is a romantic colour. Any fashion advice? Knowing what to wear for the right occasion is important. Wear an outfit that fits you and a colour that flatters your complexion. But that should not stop you from being creative and having a unique style. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
