National football league giants Rayon Sports are ready to turn over rival clubs in their quest for glory come next season that gets underway this Saturday. The Blues head coach Raoul Shungu told Times Sport recently that his main aim task this coming season is to rejuvenate the team’s glorious past. “I want to build and prepare a solid squad whose main ambition is to claim one of the two major titles (League and Peace Cup) “We have prepared poorly for the past couple of years but I admit this season, everything is positive,” Shungu said, adding that time has come for his side to return to the top echelons of the league. Shungu has recruited massively for the season bringing in defenders Marcel Lomami (SC Kiyovu), defender Mabula Akili (Kiyovu), defender Albert Ngabo (Police), defender Evra Hakizimana (Muhanga), midfielders Godfrey Ossama (Atraco), midfielder Alex Kasongo (Bukavu Dawa), and strikers Abedi Mulenda (Atraco), Joseph Kaniki (Mtibwa Sugar), Alex Mubiru (Express), Theoneste Muhayimana (Atraco) and Hassan Sacha (Nyanza). Rayon, who finished third last season have been boosted by securing of the services of former national team assistant coach Jean Baptiste Kayiranga from AS Kigali and serving national team goalkeepers coach Thomas Higiro. Shungu, in his third spell at the club was dismissed as coach of the Seychelles before taking over at the 1998 Cecafa club champions who have been labeled a sinking ship of late. The Congolese born tactician had been in charge of the small island nation’s national team since mid-2006. Ends
