Rwanda men’s senior volleyball team will play warm-up matches against Cameroon from April 21-25 ahead of the African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB) Zone V tournament slated for May 1-6 in Kigali. The development comes after the local volleyball governing body, FRVB, failed to secure friendly games against Tunisia. The Zone V tourney also serves as qualifier or the 2015 All African Games. According to the Secretary General of Rwanda Volleyball Federation, Christian Hatuminama, the team will travel to Cameroon on April 20 and return six days later. He said, “After failing to agree with Tunisia, who preferred the matches to be played in June, we turned our attention to Cameroon and they have accepted.” The team, under the guidance of Kenyan coach, Paul Bitok, has been in residential camp in Huye District before the start of the national commemoration week for the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. In Zone V, Group 1 event, Rwanda will battle against Burundi, Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda with the winner will qualify for the 2015 All Africa Games to be held in Congo Brazzaville from September 4-19. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
