Three men were, yesterday, arrested in connection with stealing electronic gadgets in Kigali, as Rwanda National Police (RNP) continues its operations against crime. The suspects were identified as Jean Paul Rwagasore, Jean Marie Vianey and Evode Dusabe, and are currently detained at Remera Police Station pending investigations. Police Spokesperson for Central Region, Superintendent Modeste Mbabazi, said the arrest of the trio follows Police investigations into a robbery case that occurred on March 23 in Kisementi, when robbers broke into a shop and stole four photocopiers, three desktops and five laptops, among other gadgets. “Investigations led us to the three suspects and we arrested them in separate locations. Our operations relied on a tip-off from area residents,” he said. “Crime and violence will be eliminated if we continue to work in partnership with residents through community policing,” he added. The owner of the robbed property, Prosper Hakizimana, commended Police for bringing the suspects to justice. He also urged residents, particularly traders, to adhere to the norm of community policing by providing timely information to Police to help in investigations.
