American combo guard Janai Crooms Robertson has joined APR women's basketball club ahead of the 2023 FIBA Zone Five Women’s Championship. The continental competition will take place at Lycée de Kigali Gymnasium from October 28 to November 4. A reliable source from the club management confirmed to Times Sport that an agreement has been reached with the 24-year-old who is already in Kigali to join her teammates ahead of the competition. The countries that will be represented include Uganda, Burundi, Tanzania, Kenya, South Sudan and host nation Rwanda. Crooms played college basketball for Ohio State, Michigan State, and Providence College, leaving a trail of success at each one. Her stint at the Big East conference of the NCAA Division 1 in Providence Friars was particularly remarkable. A true asset to the team, she led the Friars with an average of 11.8 points, 7.1 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. She was also part of the Rwandan women’s national team that finished in fourth place at the Women’s Afrobasket that took place in Kigali in August. She averaged 13.6 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game during the tournament.
