Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) endured a losing start at the ongoing Women’s African Club Championships on Friday night, going down to Egypt’s Shems in three sets at 6 October Hall in Cairo, Egypt. The host side cruised over the Rwandan league champions 25-19, 25-17, 25-17 in one hour and 30 minutes. The 12-day annual competition kicked-off on March 26 and is scheduled to run until April 5. Jean-Luc Ndayikengurkiye’s team were scheduled to face Senegal’s Saltigue last evening. Before departing for Egypt on Wednesday, Ndayikengurukiye admitted,” We are heading to Egypt for a tough battle; we will face stiff challenge from Africa’s best teams but we hope to put on a good performance.” RRA have been drawn in pool A that also includes’ Saltigue (Senegal) and Shams of Egypt. The 25th Women African Club Championships event has attracted 13 teams. Algeria’s GSP Alger are the defending champions.
