Jean Baptiste Kayiranga. Rayon Sports has named Jean Baptiste Kayiranga as the club’s new head coach until the end of the season. In a press conference, yesterday, Rayon Sports Chairman Théogène Ntampaka said the club wants to benefit from the experience of Kayiranga as they battle to stay in the CAF Confederations Cup and also get a top two finish in the national football league. The blues were defeated 3-1 by Zamalek in Egypt in the first leg of the Orange Confederations Cup and their poor form in the league has seen them sink to 7th place. “Kayiranga brings massive experience which we desperately need because the club is not in a healthy position now,” Ntampaka said. Kayiranga, a former Rayons and Amavubi player, was sacked by Mukura last year after a string of poor results. This is the third time that the former Amavubi assistant coach is being appointed Rayon Sports coach. He first joined the club in 2004 for one year and led the blues to the 2004/5 league title before he was sacked. He again joined the blues in 2009 but left after just six months after a run of poor results. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
