Editor, Reference is made to the story, “New bus terminal to serve nine city routes” (The New Times, March 21). This is a good development. If public transport is effectively and efficiently organised, the need for private transport diminishes because commuters are assured of arriving at their destinations without delay. The multiplier effect is that precious time is not lost on roads, fewer parking spaces will be needed and traffic jam with associated accidents, pollution etcetera is reduced. Not to mention the overall benefit – which is money saved that can be channeled into other development areas. Rugema Ngarambe
