APR reclaim top spot

Mukura had scored first through Bertrand Ishimwe in the 64th minute in a match that the hosts dominated but failed to create clear chances. APR’s win now takes them to 41 points, level with AS Kigali but the former have a superior goal difference and a game in hand. With five league matches to go, the title race is expected to go down the wire with AS Kigali refusing to budge. The Kigali City Council side defeated Musanze 2-0 on Saturday, which took them to the summit of the league log until APR reclaimed the top seat. Former APR players Ernest Sugira and Hamdan Bariyanga scored the goals for AS Kigali. Elsewhere, Rayon Sports moved into 6th place after defeating rivals Kiyovu 3-2 at Amahoro stadium. The blues who were recently stripped of three points on the orders of Fifa for delaying to pay former coach Raoul Shungu, now have 27 points. In a season that promised so much for the Nyanza based side, Rayon Sports have given up on the battle for the title and are only seeking the highest possible finish. In other games, Gicumbi defeated Espoir 1-0 to move into 4th position with 33 points. Sunrise saw off Etincelles 1-0 in Rwamgana while Marines made light work of bottom placed Isonga after beating them 3-1.
