HEINEKEN has injected Frw. 7 millions in the second leg of the 8th edition of the ITF/Future Circuit that gets underway today at Novotel Hotel, Kigali. Speaking during a press conference at Novotel Hotel, Bralirwa’s Commercial Director Alexander Koch said, “We are extremely proud to be official sponsor of the ITF/Futures Circuit for the 8th edition.” “It is a fantastic achievement for Rwanda tennis federation to host the event and I congratulate them for elevating the tennis standards in the country,” Koch said. Other sponsors who have supported the second leg of the ITF/Futures circuit include the Ministry of Culture and Sport which pledged support worth Frw.8 millions, the International Tennis Federation has added $6000(Frw.3.3 millions), Banque de Kigali brought in Frw.1 million while Sulfo has offered 60 cartoons of Water to the event. The estimated budget of the event is Frw. 32 millions but the federation has so far collected Frw. 18 millions for the event. The second leg of the ITF in Rwanda starts today after the Bujumbura leg came to a climax on Saturday with German Andre Begemann claiming the event’s top accolade. The Kigali ITF Futures leg has attracted 36 players from 28 African, Asian and European countries. Rwanda will be represented by 11 players but the country’s hopes of recording its first circuit title will be vested in Jean Claude Gasigwa who is Rwanda’s top seed in the event. The main draw consists of 24 players while the Singles Qualifying draw is made up of 16 players. Ends
