Nsengimana crossed the finish line microseconds behind winner Hichem Chaabane of Algeria to secure a podium place and finish ahead of Eritrean Mehari Tesfatsion. This is the second time a Rwandan rider is on the podium at the Tour International de Blida after Janvier Hadi was third at stage 1 from Blida to Djbabra, a total distance of 140.8km. Eritrean Mekseb Debesay walked away with the yellow jersey after emerging the best rider in the general classification. By press time, the organizers were yet to release the general classification for the rest of the riders. Earlier this week on Tuesday, Hadi won the Grand Prix de la Ville d’Oran earning him 40 points on the UCI Africa Tour calendar. Meanwhile, at the ongoing Tour du Cameroun, youngster Emile Bintunimana was 17th emerging as the best Rwandan rider after clocking 3:09:03, one minute behind winner Clovis Kamzong of Cameroon from Yaoundé to Bafia, a total distance of 121km. Veteran rider Abraham Ruhumuriza was 20th while debutant Jean Claude Uwizeye, Nathan Byukusenge, his brother Patrick Byukusenge and debutant Hakuzimana were 31st, 44th, 59th and 60th respectively. Today, the riders will be hoping to perform better in stage 2 from Bafia to Bangangté, a total distance of 121km.
