KLM has been rated the most punctual airline in the ‘biggest airlines in the world’ category FlightStats, a global fight tracker. KLM achieved a punctuality performance rate of 88.7 per cent, staying ahead of SAS, Iberia and Japan Airlines, FlightStats report released last week indicated. Winning the OTP Award for on-time performance serves to confirm KLM’s commitment to the level of operational reliability it aspires to offer its passengers. FlightStats published its OTP Awards for the sixth consecutive year, recognising airlines for their consistently high level of performance and honouring their commitment to transport passengers to their destinations on time. FlightStats measures 150,000 flights a day worldwide for their OTP ratings. Flights arriving at the gate less than 15 minutes after the scheduled arrival time are classified by FlightStats as being on time. Other internationally operational airlines to successively be rated among the top 10 were Saudia, ANA, Lufthansa, Airberlin, LAN Airlines and Singapore Airlines. Last year, KLM came in second after Japan Airlines. FlightStats also dished out awards in other categories. Oneworld was rated the most punctual airline alliance in 2014. Alaska Airlines emerged the most punctual airline in North America, Finnair in Europe, Japan Airlines in the Far East, Saudia in the Middle East and Copa Airlines in Latin America. Iberia Express was rated the most punctual low-cost carrier. business@newtimes.co.rw
