More than 55 global celebrities will be in Kigali, to attend and perform at the Trace Awards and Festival, the biggest music event to stage in East Africa set to be debuted in Rwanda from October 20 to 21. The glamorous event will be, so far, the first to attract a large number of mega-music celebrities in the Rwandan capital. ALSO READ: Trace Awards & Festival to be debuted in Rwanda In June, Trace, an Afro-pop music channel dedicated to airing Africa’s top music, partnered with Visit Rwanda, the country’s marketing and tourism initiative, to bring the first edition of the Trace Awards and Festival to Kigali. The event is also in line with the 20th anniversary of Trace, the global music powerhouse and Afro-music tastemaker, which has played a big role in boosting Africa’s music industry. The highly anticipated three-day festival will take place at Kigali Convention and Exhibition Village (KCEV), while the Trace Awards, the highlight of the festival, will be staged a day later on Saturday, October 21, at BK Arena. ALSO READ: Yemi Alade, BNXN, Olamide, Musa Keys, Fireboy DML, and many others join Trace Awards line-up Hosted by one of the pioneers of the Afrobeats genre, Dbanj, and Angolan supermodel Maria Borges, Trace Awards will be headlined by Africa’s finest musicians including Davido, Asake, Olamide, Kiss Daniel, Rema, and Diamond Platnumz, all who are nominated in multiple categories of the awards. In March 2022, Olivier Laouchez, the CEO and co-founder of Trace Music Group, visited Rwanda with his team. Later, Laouchez expressed his appreciation for the facilities in Rwanda, particularly BK Arena, pointing out that the group would wish to host the first edition of the awards which will recognise African artists in different genres.
