Agasaro crowned Miss Mount Kenya University

The contestants were elegant. The performances were great. That summed up the Mount Kenya University — MKU beauty pageant which ended with the crowning of Mr and Miss Mt Kenya University on Friday at Gikondo Expo Grounds in Kicukiro. Ismail Nsengiyumva, and Farid Nadia Agasaro, were crowned Mr and Miss Mount Kenya University 2015, respectively. A contestant takes to the stage. Farid Nadia Agasaro, a first year Mass Media and Communication student weathered stiff competition in the ladies category to beat eleven finalists while Nsengiyumva, a third year Bachelor of Travel and Tourism Management student emerged the winner in men’s category after beating other eleven contestants. The two walked away with an iPad each, $1000 cash prize, full year tuition scholarship and a car. Miss MKU 2015, Farid Nadia Agasaro showed off her modeling skills during the creative wear session. It was all colour and glamour as 22 students took part in the beauty pageant. They showcased traditional, formal and casual wear for a big crowd including students and parents. Apart from beauty and grace on the catwalk, the contestants were also supposed to show that they had brains during the Question and Answer session. Thrills and frills filled the air as the contestants came on the stage to Mafikizolo and Davido’s hit track, Tchelete playing in the background. Other winners Alice Rotine Malonga and Mouna Dukunde emerged the Miss MKU first and second runners up, respectively while James Mutabazi and Jean de Dieu Jay Ntabanganyimana scooped the Mr MKU first and second runners up, respectively. Also awarded were Assumpta Uwera as Miss Talent, Adia Shema as Miss Photogenic, Arnold Mutabazi as Mr Talent, and Jean Paul Gasarisi as Mr Photogenic. Renowned Kenyan singer Jaguar thrilled fans at the ceremony. The 22-year-old Agasaro could not hide her excitement. ‘It is a surprise that I have managed to shine among others. And to be honest, this was too far from my expectations,’ she said. The event was well attended. Renowned Kenyan musician Jaguar mesmerized the audience and, also invited fans to join him on the stage. He performed several songs, including his hit-tracks, Kioo and Kipepeo, among others, and left fans asking for more. The Toyota Sienna that was given to Mr and Miss Mount Kenya University 2015.
