Rayon Sports Volleyball Club have signed Christian Shingiro and Adolphe Mutoni both on a one-year deal for the 2015 season, which started on Saturday. Right-attacker, Mutoni was signed from INATEK while Shingiro, a setter, spent last season without a team. It is also reported that the team will be boosted by the return of left attacker Nelson Murangwa, who was on professional trials with Japanese side Oita Miyoshi Weisse Adler Japan. Meanwhile, Rayon Sports started the season on a high, winning their opening game against new league entrants Kirehe 3-2 on Sunday. Fidele Nyirimana’s side won the first set 25-17, but Kirehe recovered to take the second set 25-15, Rayon took the third 27-25, and the Rusumo-based team snatched the fourth set 25 -19 to take the game into a decider which Rayon Sports won 15 -10. In other matches, INATEK beat Rusumo High School 3-0 on Saturday before beating Kirehe VC on Sunday 3-0. Kigali Volleyball Club beat Lycee de Nyanza 3-0 and defending champions APR defeated Rusumo 3-0 in the men’s league. In the women’s category, holders Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) beat Inyemeramihigo 3-0, St Joseph lost to APR 3-0, Ruhango defeated Lycee de Nyanza 3-0 on Saturday. On Sunday, RRA beat Nyanza 3-0, Ruhango overcame St Joseph 3-0 while St Alloys overpowered Inyemeramihigo 3-0.
