Point guard Olivier Turatsinze has committed his future to Espoir after penning a one-year contract extension with the club. The new deal runs until October 2024. Turatsinze, 22, helped Espoir finish third in the playoffs of the 2023 Rwanda Basketball League. He was one of the top performers not just for his team but the entire league throughout the season and he deservedly ended up being named to the top scorer of the season. The point guard finished as the leading scorer of the regular season with 507 points, an outstanding performance that saw him named Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the regular season. “We can confirm that point guard Olivier Turatsinze has extended his stay with Espoir and giving him a new contract is an indication that we are happy with his work,” said club head coach Janvier Kamanzi. Turatsinze started his career with IPRC-Kigali in 2017 before joining Espoir the following year. Reacting on the new deal, he said, “I am honoured and excited to sign a new deal with the club because it shows that my bosses want to work with me.” “I hope to continue to work hard for the team. My ambition is to keep Espoir going strong,” he added.
