Huawei, a leading global provider of information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure and smart devices, on October 10 announced the successful completion of the 2023 Seeds for the Future programme in Rwanda that was held on August 7-14. ALSO READ: Huawei Technologies Rwanda completes technical training of trainers for ICT TVET teachers Thirty students from two universities (University of Rwanda and Rwanda Polytechnique) participated in the programme which aims to cultivate local ICT talent and young leaders for the future, and promote the development of digital communities. ALSO READ: Rwandan students scoop second place in global ICT competition The Chinese multinational technology corporation has established the Seeds Alumni network to connect all current and former participants of the Seeds for the Future program worldwide. Through this network, Huawei continues to collaborate with these Seeds to promote digital transformation. The network organizes both online and in-person activities to foster relationships between alumni and enhance their global impact. “This year, Huawei also launched a new Seed Ambassador programme for outstanding alumni who have served as role models since completing the programme. The first 10 Seed Ambassadors hail from Jordan, the Philippines, the UAE, Tunisia, Egypt, El Salvador, Jamaica, Ireland, Nepal, and Uzbekistan,” reads part of a Huawei statement. They will take part in various online and in-person activities as representatives of the Seeds for the Future program. During the eight-day intensive training session, participants learned about cutting-edge ICT technologies, such as 5G, AI, and cloud computing. They also participated in scientific and technological leadership training, discussions on global topics, and Tech4Good group projects. Outstanding teams from the programme will be invited to participate in the Tech4Good Global Competition, where they will compete with other teams from around the world to jointly explore ICT's huge potential to drive sustainable development. Winners from the global competition will be invited to the Tech4Good Startup Sprint in China, where they will visit Shenzhen, Beijing, and other cities to experience real-world entrepreneurial environments and compete for a startup support fund of US$100,000.
