Ranking schools promotes competitiveness

What? Rwanda education board and Ministry of Education do not want schools to be ranked? We are living in the world of competition and ranking based on the achievements is the best way to show that you are or you are not competent. Ranking shows your strengths and weaknesses so that you can fill the gaps in the immediate future. It also promotes the hard working spirit. Malpractices can be avoided without necessarily banning ranking and competition among the schools. Remember that one of the main roles of education is societal transformation. Do you think our society will be transformed without citizens who understand what it requires to be competitive? Jean-Chrysostome *************************Malpractice should be fought differently without killing the spirit of competition. Should we also abandon revealing the results of Imihigo in districts because of falsification of the results, or rather we should always look at improving the assessment criteria to root out any misrepresentations? Reb and Mineduc should pull up their socks and do the right thing to curb malpractices. Otherwise hard work and good performance should be recognised and praised.
